It was established on January 1, 2015, to replace the erstwhile Planning Commission. Documents Required

  • Organization Registration Documents: Documents establishing the legal identity and registration status of the organization, such as the certificate of incorporation, memorandum of association, articles of association, trust deed, or society registration certificate.
  • PAN Card: Permanent Account Number (PAN) card issued by the Income Tax Department. It is required for identification and tax-related purposes.
  • Audited Financial Statements: Audited financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and auditor’s report, for the relevant financial years. These documents provide information about the financial position and performance of the organization.
  • Board Resolution: A board resolution or a similar document authorizing the representative of the organization to engage with NITI Aayog and sign relevant documents on behalf of the organization.
  • Address Proof: Proof of the organization’s registered office address, such as a copy of the lease agreement, utility bills, or property ownership documents.
  • ID Proof: Identification proof of the authorized representative of the organization, such as a copy of the Aadhaar card, passport, or voter ID card.
  • Other Supporting Documents: Additional documents specific to the purpose of engagement with NITI Aayog, such as project proposals, reports, or any other documents requested by NITI Aayog.

PROCESS

  • Visit the NGO Darpan Portal: Access the official website of the NGO Darpan portal, which is managed by the NITI Aayog. The website address is https://ngodarpan.gov.in/.
  • Create an Account: Click on the “New User? Register” button on the portal’s homepage. Fill in the required details to create an account. You will need to provide basic information such as your name, email address, contact number, and organization details.
  • Verification of Email and Mobile: Once you have filled in the required information, an email and an SMS with a verification link will be sent to the registered email address and mobile number. Click on the verification link to verify your account.
  • Login to the Portal: After verification, log in to the NGO Darpan portal using your registered email address and password.
  • Fill in Organization Details: Once you are logged in, you will be required to provide detailed information about your organization, including its name, address, registration details, objectives, activities, financial details, etc. Fill in the information accurately and ensure that you have all the necessary documents and information handy.
  • Upload Supporting Documents: As part of the registration process, you will be asked to upload supporting documents, such as your organization’s registration certificate, memorandum of association, bylaws, audited financial statements, PAN card, etc. Make sure you have scanned copies of these documents in the required format (usually PDF).
  • Submit the Application: After filling in all the required information and uploading the supporting documents, review the information you provided. Once you are satisfied with the accuracy and completeness of the details, submit the application.
  • Application Processing: The NITI Aayog will review your application and the supporting documents. They may conduct verification or seek additional information if required.
  • Approval and Unique ID: If your application is found to be complete and meets the eligibility criteria, the NITI Aayog will approve your NGO registration in the NGO Darpan portal. They will provide you with a Unique ID for your NGO.

VALIDITY

NITI Aayog itself does not have a fixed validity period. It continues to function as an ongoing entity to provide strategic policy recommendations, coordinate with central and state governments, monitor the progress of initiatives, and facilitate cooperative federalism.
