The National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), operating under the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MoMSMEs), is a key player in supporting the growth of MSMEs across India. Established in 1955, NSIC provides essential support services, including technology, marketing, finance, and other business services. Professionals manage its various incubation and training programs to foster the development of small businesses.

NSIC enables Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) to participate in government procurement through the Single Point Registration Scheme (SPRS). With ISO 9001:2015 certification, NSIC is recognized as a Mini Ratna PSU and plays a pivotal role in facilitating the growth of small businesses.

Founded by the Indian government post-independence, NSIC acts as a bridge, offering crucial assistance to small-scale industries. MSEs registered with NSIC can access a variety of government development initiatives, helping them expand their operations and contribute to India’s economic growth.

Check If You Are Eligible for NSIC Registration

To proceed with NSIC Registration, ensure you meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Existing Businesses: Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) that are registered with either the EM Part-II (Optional) or Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) are eligible to apply for NSIC Registration.
  2. New Businesses: Nascent MSEs that have started commercial production but haven’t yet reached their first anniversary of establishment can also qualify.
  3. Provisional Registration: Newly established Micro & Small Businesses can apply for a Provisional Registration Certificate, which remains valid for one year.

Benefits of NSIC Registration

NSIC Registration offers a range of valuable benefits for businesses, enabling them to tap into various government opportunities. Some of the key advantages include:

  1. Free Issuance of Tender Sets: NSIC-registered businesses can access tender sets without any charge.
  2. Exemption from Earnest Money Deposit (EMD): MSEs registered with NSIC are not required to pay EMD while participating in government tenders.
  3. Price Band Flexibility: MSEs participating in tenders and quoting prices within the L1 + 15% price band can supply up to 25% of the requirement at the L1 price, provided that L1 is offered by non-MSEs.
  4. Mandatory Government Procurement from MSEs: Every Central Ministry, Department, and PSU must set an annual target to procure at least 25% of their total goods and services from MSEs.
  5. Special Quotas for Women and SC/ST Entrepreneurs: Of the 25% government procurement from MSEs, 3% is reserved for women-owned businesses and 4% for SC/ST-owned businesses.
  6. Exclusive Products for SSI Sector: 358 products are exclusively available for purchase from the SSI sector, providing MSEs a unique advantage in the market.

Documents Required for NSIC Registration

To complete your NSIC registration—whether online or offline—you’ll need to provide the following documents along with your application:

  1. Certificate of Incorporation (for companies)
  2. LLP Agreement and Form A issued by the Registrar of Firms (for LLPs)
  3. Memorandum of Association (MoA) and Articles of Association (AoA)
  4. Attested documents proving ownership of the business premises
  5. Director’s declaration confirming no association with any large-scale units
  6. List of inventory including raw materials, finished goods, and semi-finished goods
  7. PAN card of the business entity
  8. Financial records such as bank statements, ITRs, and audited financial statements
  9. BIS License (if applicable)
  10. Information about quality control equipment available in the factory
  11. Human resource recruitment summary or report
  12. Recent utility bills (electricity, water, etc.) as proof of business operations
